Dickleburgh Moor site

Dickleburgh Moor Nature Reserve is a former glacial lake that is owned by The Otter Trust and managed to conserve wetland birds, insects and plants.

In the wetter periods of its history the willow and reed marsh land was home to succession of early Britons. In places the peat deposit is over 35m deep and contains interesting archaeological features such as a submerged willow causeway to the south east of the site. In modern history the land has been drained for agriculture and was surrounded by small settlements.

Earsham Wetlands Centre

Earsham has been home to a collection of native wildlife and rare breed farm animals since 1976.

Our wildlife reserve is home to a wide variety of wild animals that live on the scrapes and amongst the wildflowers that surround the paddocks. Mallard, Gadwall, Shoveler, Teal and Shelduck can usually be found dabbling in the shallow lakes, being occasionally joined by Oystercatchers, Redshank, Curlew and Lapwing.
