West African Research Grants (WARG)
These grants aim to offer seed or match funding to enable research into population, habitat management or scientific research pertaining to endangered, range restricted and understudies species within West Africa.
The Otter Trust welcomes proposals from small charities, organisations and individuals who aim to work with the species, within the geographic range specified below. Applications are welcome from the 1st January each year with successful applications to be notified by the end of February.

SMALL CARNIVORE RESEARCH GRANTS (SCRG)
Small Carnivore Research Grants are restricted to the following: Viverridae, Herpestidae and Mustelidae within Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali and Senegal.
DATA DEFICIENT WETLAND SPECIES GRANT (DDWSG)Focussing on but not restricted to the following
- Mount Nimba Otter Shrew Micropotamogale lamottei - Water Chevrotain Hyemoschus aquaticus within Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Liberia. - Sitatunga Tragelophus spekii gratus within Senegal and Guinea-Bissau - Pygmy Hippopoatmus Hexaprotodon liberiensis liberiensis within Sierra Leone |
Kartong Bird Observatory Associate Projects (KBOAP)We currently support research projects at Kartong Bird Observatory (see below) the species selected are iconic and enable access to and further research within the environs in which they are found. We welcome enquiries for grants and funding that meet with our wider goals.
