The Western Africa Otter Research Grant (WAORG)
From £500 -£2000
Back in 1975 our founder Philip Wayre was in India helping the government create new protected areas. His interest was predominantly in the lesser known species and his work is echoed today with our desire to fund projects that support the forgotten species of West Africa.
This grant aims to facilitate research and conservation of the two species noted below where they exist at the outermost limit of their Western range in isolated and threatened populations. These populations are severely data deficient as is the general knowledge and status of these remote wetland areas.
The Otter Trust welcomes proposals from small charities, organisations and individuals who aim to work with the species, within the geographic range specified below. Applications are welcome from the 1st January each year with successful applications to be notified by the end of February.
